What this status means
Israel EMS (Israel Post) writes that the item is going through customs and authorities inspection. The parcel has arrived from abroad and is at a sorting centre, where it is being checked as part of the normal import process. Nearly every parcel with this message was just received at a sorting centre.
Is my package delayed?
On its own, this message is normal. It is a routine step for imported parcels, not a sign of a problem. The check can take longer than the previous steps, but that does not mean something has gone wrong. Most often the parcel simply leaves the sorting centre afterwards.
What happens next
- Most often (about three quarters of cases), the parcel leaves the sorting centre and moves on towards its destination.
- Sometimes it waits for a customs officer to inspect it, or is reported as returned from the import check.
- If taxes are due, the update says so and the parcel goes on to the delivery point.
What you can do
- Wait and keep checking the tracking history; this step usually resolves itself.
- If the parcel stays at this step for longer than usual, contact Israel Post or ask the seller to check the shipment.
- Have your tracking number and order details ready when you contact them.
- Be prepared for possible customs duties or taxes. If they apply, the status will say so and tell you where to collect the parcel.
