On Hold - Pending Customs Inspection

SkyNet tracking parcel

What this status means

SkyNet has paused your parcel because it is waiting for a customs inspection. The parcel is at a customs or handling facility in the country it has just entered or is about to enter. "On Hold" means it is not moving onward until customs has looked at it.

Is my package delayed?

This message alone is a normal part of international shipping, but it is a pause, so the parcel will not move for a while. If the hold lasts longer than the previous steps, expect a delay. Inspections can be routine checks or can involve questions about the contents or paperwork. It does not mean the parcel is lost.

What happens next

Once customs finishes, the parcel is usually released and tracking moves on to a clearance or release update, then onward transport to a local delivery facility. If customs needs more information or payment, SkyNet or the customs office may ask for it before releasing the parcel.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking the tracking history for a release update.
  • Watch your email, phone and messages for requests from SkyNet or customs for documents, an ID or duties and taxes.
  • If the status stays the same for longer than usual, contact SkyNet with your tracking number.
  • Ask the seller for the invoice and a description of the contents, which customs may need.
