The parcel has reached Australia from overseas and is waiting for customs clearance. Australia Post records it as "Arrived awaiting clearance (Inbound)" while the item is held at an international mail facility. Border officials may check the contents and any paperwork there before the parcel enters the domestic network.
No, this message by itself is normal. Every international parcel coming into Australia goes through this step. Only if the parcel stays at this status for longer than the previous steps took does it become worth looking into.
Most often, in about four out of five cases, the next scan is "Item processed at sorting facility". That means the parcel has cleared and is moving into Australia Post's local network. After that it is sorted and sent on toward your area, then goes out for delivery. Occasionally the parcel gets another arrival or clearance scan first.
