Austrian Post has passed your parcel to a partner company, a subcontractor, that carries out part of the journey on its behalf. The partner may be a transport firm, a local delivery company or a postal service abroad. The parcel is in the hands of that partner, not at an Austrian Post counter or in a delivery van of its own.
No, this message by itself is normal. Although the status is labelled "being prepared for delivery", the next messages show that the parcel is often still on its way. It may be moved on, sorted again or sent abroad before the last delivery step. A delay is only likely if the tracking history stops updating for longer than usual.
The next scan varies. Most often the parcel is bundled with others (transit unit consolidation), or it is recorded as arriving in the destination country. In about a fifth of cases it is marked as distributed. Sometimes it is recorded as forwarded to another country. These are all ordinary steps between handover and final delivery.
