DHL Express has recorded a change in the customs file for your shipment. The note in the message explains that customs processing can begin while the parcel is still travelling to the destination country. So the parcel may be at a sorting hub, on a flight or truck, or already in the destination country. The message does not say where it is. It only says the paperwork has moved forward.
Is my package delayed?
By itself, this message is normal for international shipments. It is not an exception or a sign of a problem. It often appears more than once, because each update to the customs file can produce the same line. Only if the parcel stays at this step for longer than the previous steps took is it worth looking closer.
What happens next
Most often the tracking moves on to another customs update or to "Arrived at Sort Facility". In about one in ten cases the next line is "Clearance processing complete", which means customs has released the parcel. After that the parcel is processed, leaves the facility and moves on towards delivery.
What you can do
- Wait and keep checking. Repeated customs updates are common.
- Check your messages from DHL in case it asks for documents, an invoice or payment of import duties or taxes.
- If tracking stays unchanged for longer than usual, or DHL asks for information, contact DHL Express with your tracking number.
- If you ordered online, contact the seller. Have your order number and the shipping details ready.
