FedEx

At local FedEx facility - Delivery scheduled via FedEx Ground, not US Postal Service

FedEx tracking parcel

What this status means

Your parcel is at the FedEx facility closest to your address, and FedEx will deliver it itself through FedEx Ground. The wording "not US Postal Service" only clarifies that the final delivery will not be handed to the postal service, which FedEx sometimes does for light residential parcels. The parcel is in the last stage before delivery.

Is my package delayed?

No, this message by itself is normal. It is a routine step shortly before delivery. In only a small number of cases does it lead to a delivery problem.

What happens next

  • Most often (about two thirds of cases), the next update is "On FedEx vehicle for delivery", meaning the driver has your parcel.
  • In about 29% of cases, the parcel is scanned again at a FedEx location first, which can mean it moved to another depot or was sorted again.
  • Rarely, a delivery exception appears, for example if nobody was available or a business was closed.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking the tracking history for the next scan.
  • Make sure someone can receive the parcel, and check that the delivery address is correct.
  • If the status does not change for longer than the previous steps took, or an exception appears, contact FedEx first.
  • Have your tracking number and order details ready. If FedEx cannot help, contact the seller.
