Royal Mail

Delivery request received

Royal Mail tracking parcel

What this status means

Royal Mail has logged a request to deliver your item, and it is now in their system. This usually follows a redelivery or delivery-option request made by you, the sender, or on your behalf, such as choosing a new delivery day or a different place to leave it. The line is an acknowledgement. It does not mean the item has moved or been delivered.

Is my package delayed?

This message by itself is normal and not a sign of a problem. It is an administrative update rather than a physical scan. If it appears after a missed delivery, the item is waiting for its next delivery attempt, so expect the journey to be longer than if the first attempt had worked.

What happens next

Royal Mail will usually schedule the item for a new delivery round, or prepare it for collection if you chose a Post Office. The tracking should then move to a line saying the item is out for delivery, or that it is ready to collect. If the request cannot be actioned, you may see a message saying so instead.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking the tracking history for the next update.
  • Check that your address and any safe-place instructions are correct.
  • If the item has not moved for longer than the previous steps, contact Royal Mail with your tracking number.
  • If Royal Mail cannot help, contact the seller with your order details and tracking number.
