Import process cancelled in country of destination

Swiss Post tracking parcel

What this status means

Swiss Post has recorded that the import process for your parcel was cancelled in the destination country. The parcel has reached, or is close to, the destination's customs and import handling stage, and the import procedure that had been started was stopped. This is not a delivery update. It usually means the parcel will not continue as a normal import, at least for now.

Is my package delayed?

This message is an exception, not a routine step. It does not always mean the parcel is lost, since the import entry may have been cancelled and then restarted or corrected. Still, it often means the parcel is being re-routed or returned, so expect a delay compared with a normal delivery.

What happens next

The next updates vary. Most often the parcel moves into export steps, such as leaving the border point or completing export customs clearance, which points to it leaving the destination country. Less often it goes back into customs clearance, is sent back, or is marked as delivered.

What you can do

  • Keep checking the tracking history for the next update, which will show which way it is going.
  • If nothing changes for longer than the previous steps took, contact the seller first and ask whether the shipment was stopped or returned.
  • If the seller cannot help, contact Swiss Post with your tracking number.
  • Have your order details and delivery address ready, and be prepared to supply any customs information requested.
