YANWEN has decided to send the parcel back to the seller who shipped it. "Return to sender" is a return-stage message. The parcel is not on its way to you any more and is being routed back toward the origin warehouse. It usually follows a failed delivery attempt, such as a wrong address or a closed business. In a few cases it appears even after a parcel was marked as delivered.
This message is an exception, not a normal step on the way to you. Delivery to you has stopped, so the parcel will not arrive unless the seller sends it again. The message is rare, and you should not assume the parcel is lost. The return itself is normally tracked to the end.
The next update is nearly always "Returned to sender, shipment has been received in sender warehouse". That means the parcel has reached the seller's side. The return trip can take longer than the earlier steps, because the parcel travels back across borders. After that, the seller decides whether to refund you or ship again.
