Deutsche Post has sorted your parcel at one of its Logistics Centers (Briefzentrum or Paketzentrum), and the parcel is now in the region where it will be delivered. It is in the middle of the journey: past the first sorting, but not yet out with a delivery person. The same line can appear more than once, because a parcel may pass through more than one centre in the destination region.
Is my package delayed?
No, this message by itself is normal. It is a routine progress step, not an exception. A delay is only likely if the tracking history stops on this line for longer than the previous steps took and nothing new appears.
What happens next
- Most often, "The item is currently being delivered" follows (about one in four cases): the parcel is on the delivery vehicle.
- About as often, the same message appears again after another sorting step in the region.
- In about one in five cases, the shipment is sent on to the destination country, which happens with international parcels.
What you can do
- Wait and keep checking the tracking history. Most parcels move on without any action from you.
- Make sure your address and name on the mailbox or doorbell are correct and easy to read.
- If the status stays unchanged for longer than usual, contact Deutsche Post and have your tracking number ready.
- If the parcel is an order, you can also ask the seller to start a trace, with your order details at hand.
