What this status means
DHL Global Mail tried to deliver the parcel to a business address, found the premises closed, and left a notice. The parcel was not handed over and is still with the carrier. It was usually either out for delivery or waiting at the post office when this attempt was made.
Is my package delayed?
This message is an exception, but a common and minor one. It means one delivery attempt failed, not that the parcel is lost. After it, the parcel most often moves on to a delivered status, so it is rarely a sign of a serious problem. Delivery will take longer than if someone had been there to accept it.
What happens next
- In about two thirds of cases, the next update says the parcel was delivered to a returns agent or a college/university for final delivery.
- In about a quarter of cases, it simply shows as delivered.
- Occasionally the same notice appears again after another attempt at a closed address.

- Check that the delivery address and the business opening hours are correct, and make sure someone is there to receive the parcel.
- Read the notice left at the door, if you have it, and follow its instructions.
- Keep checking the tracking history for the next update.
- If nothing changes for longer than usual, contact DHL Global Mail or the seller, with your tracking number and order details ready.
