What this status means

"CLOSE BAG" is an internal handling step at a DHL Global Mail sorting facility. Your parcel has been sorted and placed in a larger bag or sack with other items heading the same way, and the bag has now been sealed. The parcel is still inside the courier's network, at a processing site, and has not yet left it.

Is my package delayed?

No. This message by itself is normal and is a routine part of the journey. It most often follows a "PROCESSED" scan, and it does not point to a problem with your parcel.

What happens next

The sealed bag is usually scanned into a sack or container for onward transport. In more than half of cases that is the very next update. Other common follow-ups are a scan at a transit facility, a note that processing at the origin is complete, or a manifest entry for outbound transport. Sometimes "CLOSE BAG" appears twice in a row, which is also normal.

What you can do

  • Wait and check the tracking again later. Updates between handling steps can be slow to appear.
  • If the status stays the same for longer than the previous steps took, ask the seller first, as they handled the shipment with DHL Global Mail.
  • If the seller cannot help, contact DHL Global Mail and have your tracking number and order details ready.
  • For international parcels, watch for customs messages later in the journey, as duties may apply.
