What this status means

Hong Kong Post tried to deliver the parcel and could not hand it over. The parcel is with the local delivery office or on a delivery round. Typical reasons are that nobody was available to receive it, the address could not be reached, or the item could not be left safely. The message does not say which reason applied.

Is my package delayed?

This is an exception, but usually a minor one. The same message often appears more than once in a row, so a repeat does not mean the parcel is lost. A delivery that keeps failing will take longer than usual, and it can eventually be sent back.

What happens next

  • Most often, another "Delivery incomplete" entry appears after a further attempt (about 56% of cases).
  • In about a third of cases the next entry is "Delivered".
  • Less often, the parcel goes back to the delivery office for another try.
  • In a small share of cases it is returned to the place of origin.

What you can do

  • Check that someone can receive the parcel and keep watching the tracking history for the next attempt.
  • Look for a notice card or message from Hong Kong Post, and follow its instructions for redelivery or collection.
  • If the attempts keep failing, contact the local delivery office or Hong Kong Post with your tracking number and full delivery address.
  • If a return has started, ask the seller to help, and have your order details ready.
