Receive item at office of exchange in destination country

Pakistan Post tracking parcel

What this status means

Your parcel has landed in the destination country and the postal service there has taken it in at the office of exchange. This is the border gateway where international mail is handed from one country's post to another. The parcel is still at the gateway and has not yet reached a local delivery post office.

Is my package delayed?

No, this message by itself is normal. It is a routine step for international parcels sent by Pakistan Post. Customs checks follow, and they can take longer than the previous steps, but that does not mean something is wrong.

What happens next

  • Most often, in about half of cases, the parcel is sent on to customs in the destination country.
  • Sometimes it is returned from customs, or held at the office of exchange.
  • Less often it moves straight on to a domestic location or a sorting centre for onward delivery.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking the tracking history. Customs steps can pause updates for a while.
  • Check whether your country charges import duties or taxes on parcels, and be ready to pay them if asked.
  • If the parcel stays on this step for much longer than usual, or shows a hold or return, contact the seller first, then Pakistan Post.
  • Have your tracking number and order details ready.
