TNT has stopped the parcel because it contains, or is suspected to contain, dangerous goods. These are items such as batteries, flammable liquids, aerosols or chemicals that carry special transport rules. The parcel is being held at a TNT site, usually soon after it was collected or reached the first depot, while TNT checks it and decides how to proceed.
This message is an exception, not a routine scan. Holding a parcel for checks usually means it will move more slowly than normal. It does not always mean the parcel is lost or will be returned. Some held parcels continue once the checks are complete, and others cannot be carried at all.
If the checks are passed, tracking normally resumes with a scan such as "Shipment arrived at TNT location", or the parcel goes straight to "Shipment is out for delivery". Both have been seen after this message. If TNT cannot carry the contents, it may contact the sender about collection, return or disposal.
