Delivery to a UPS Access Point™ location is pending

UPS tracking parcel

What this status means

UPS has marked this parcel for delivery to a UPS Access Point, a shop or locker where you collect your parcel instead of receiving it at your door. The parcel is still moving through the UPS network and has not reached the Access Point yet. The Access Point may have been chosen by you, by the seller, or by UPS.

Is my package delayed?

This message by itself is normal. It is an in-transit update, not a failure. It is not a guarantee either: in some cases the plan changes afterwards. If the line repeats or the next update takes longer than the previous steps, the parcel may be waiting on a change.

What happens next

  • Most often the parcel is scanned at another UPS facility, or redirected to a local delivery center.
  • In about one in nine cases, UPS reports that the parcel cannot go to the chosen location and asks for a different delivery arrangement.
  • Sometimes the Access Point request is cancelled, and the parcel goes to the original address instead.
  • When it arrives at the Access Point, you should get a pickup notice.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking the tracking history for the next scan.
  • Check whether you or the seller chose an Access Point. If you did not want one, use the UPS delivery change option.
  • If UPS says the location cannot take the parcel, choose a new address or location promptly.
  • If nothing changes for longer than usual, contact UPS or the seller. Have your tracking number and order details ready.
  • Once it arrives, bring photo ID and your pickup notice or tracking number.
