What this status means
"Depart From Transit Office of Exchange" is an international mail step. An office of exchange is a postal facility where mail from one country is handed over to another country's postal service. The parcel has been processed at one of these transit offices and has now left it, so it is moving between countries and is not yet with a local delivery team.
Is my package delayed?
No, this message by itself is normal. It is a routine step in cross-border mail and does not signal a problem. If the parcel stays on this line for longer than the previous steps took, that is worth watching, but a single scan like this is not a warning.
What happens next
Most often, in about two thirds of cases, the next scan is "Processed Through Office of Exchange". That means the parcel has reached another exchange office and been handled there. After that you may see customs steps, an arrival at an international service center, or a handover to the destination country's postal service. Scans from foreign postal systems can appear in other languages or formats.
What you can do
- Wait and keep checking the tracking history. Updates between countries can be slow to appear.
- If the status does not change for longer than usual, ask the seller to check the shipment with the sender's postal service.
- Contact USPS only if the parcel is clearly stuck, and have your tracking number and order details ready.
- Be prepared for possible customs checks or fees once the parcel reaches your country.
