What this status means

"Code 1" is a customs-related checkpoint message from Aramex. It is not a facility code. It means your parcel is in the customs clearance stage, where the customs authority of the country it is entering reviews the shipment before it can be released. The parcel is usually held at a customs or border facility while this happens.

Is my package delayed?

This message by itself is normal for an international parcel. It is not a sign of loss or damage. Customs checks can take longer than the previous steps, though, and the message often appears alongside or just before another customs inspection update. Treat it as a routine step unless it stays unchanged for much longer than you would expect.

What happens next

Most often the next update is "The shipment is currently going through customs inspection", which is the same stage described in different words. In about a third of cases the parcel moves on and the next message says it is on its way to an Aramex facility. Less often it reaches an Aramex transit office on its way to the final destination office.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking the tracking history for new updates.
  • If a message asks for duty or tax payment, follow the instructions in it, as the parcel cannot be released until it is paid.
  • If nothing changes for longer than usual, contact Aramex and have your tracking number ready.
  • If Aramex cannot help, ask the seller, with your order details at hand, whether customs paperwork is needed.
