Canada Post is holding the parcel because the recipient asked it to. This is usually a Hold Mail request, set up when someone is away from home, or a request to keep the item at a postal location instead of delivering it to the door. The parcel is not lost or damaged. It is being kept at a Canada Post facility until the hold ends or the request changes.
This message is not a fault or a delivery exception. It means delivery is paused on purpose. If you did not ask for a hold, treat it as unexpected and check it, because the request may have been made by mistake or by someone else with access to your account or address.
Once the hold ends, the parcel normally goes back into the delivery process and is delivered to your address. If the request was for pickup, it moves to the chosen post office or pickup point and you are notified when it is ready. A hold that has been cancelled or changed, for example to a new address, can lead to the item being released or redirected.
