What this status means
A DHL Express courier came to the delivery address with your parcel and could not hand it over. Nobody answered the door or the premises were closed. The parcel is still with DHL and has returned to the local delivery facility or stayed on the courier's vehicle. "Consignee" simply means the recipient.
Is my package delayed?
This is an exception, not a sign that the parcel is lost. The delivery has been held up by one missed attempt, so it will arrive later than the first plan. It becomes a bigger problem if the attempt is repeated or the parcel is put on hold.
What happens next
- Most often, the parcel is held for collection by the recipient (about a third of cases).
- In about one case in five, it goes out for delivery again.
- Some parcels are delivered right after this step, or put on hold.
- Another failed attempt is possible.
What you can do
- Keep checking the tracking history for the next update.
- Check that the address is complete, including the apartment number, the company name and a working phone number.
- If DHL left a notice or sent a message, follow its instructions to rearrange delivery or collect the parcel.
- If the status does not change or you were home all day, contact DHL Express with your tracking number. If needed, contact the seller and have your order details ready.
