DHL Express

Awaiting collection by the consignee

DHL Express tracking parcel

What this status means

The parcel has reached its final location and is waiting for the recipient (the "consignee") to collect it. It is usually held at a DHL service point or a DHL facility rather than being on a delivery van. Delivery to your address is not planned for now. Sometimes the parcel gets here after a delivery attempt failed, and sometimes it is sent here directly.

Is my package delayed?

No, this message by itself is normal. It is the last step before the parcel is handed over. It becomes a concern only if the parcel stays here longer than usual without being collected, because held parcels can eventually be sent back to the sender.

What happens next

Most often, in about two thirds of cases, the next update is "Delivered", which means the parcel was handed over. In about a quarter of cases the same message appears again as the status is refreshed. Failed attempts, transfers to another agent or a hold are rare.

What you can do

  • Collect the parcel soon. Bring photo ID and your tracking number.
  • If you don't know where the parcel is held, check for a notification from DHL or contact them to get the address and opening hours.
  • If the parcel is not there or the status doesn't change, contact DHL with the tracking number.
  • If DHL can't help, contact the seller and have your order details ready. Customs charges may have to be paid before handover for international parcels.
