The parcel has reached the destination country and is waiting for customs clearance. The recipient has chosen a broker other than FedEx to handle that clearance, so FedEx cannot see the progress. "Unknown status" means FedEx has no update from that broker. It does not mean the parcel is lost or refused. The parcel is usually held at a FedEx facility while the broker works.
This message is an exception, but a common and usually minor one. In most cases it is followed by a release from customs. Even so, the parcel is paused until the broker submits the paperwork and any charges are settled, so it can be held longer than the earlier steps if the broker is slow to act.
Most often, in about three cases out of five, the next update is "International shipment release - Import". That means customs has cleared the parcel and FedEx can move it on. Sometimes the broker paperwork notice appears again first. After release, the parcel normally leaves the hub or arrives at a local FedEx facility before delivery.
