UPS tracking parcel

What this status means

UPS has assigned a customs broker to handle the import paperwork for your parcel in the destination country. The shipment has been released by customs and can continue moving. The parcel is in the courier's network, usually at or just after a customs facility, and is not stuck in customs.

Is my package delayed?

This message by itself is normal. It marks the end of the customs step, not a problem. The most common next scans are ordinary facility scans, such as "Arrived at Facility" (about 38%) and "Departed from Facility" (about 28%). Sometimes a duties or taxes notice follows (about 16%), which is a payment matter and not a hold-up in itself. A delay is only likely if the tracking stops updating for longer than usual.

What happens next

  • Most often, the parcel is scanned as it arrives at or leaves a UPS facility on its way to your area.
  • In some cases, UPS posts a notice that duties or taxes are due on the package.
  • Later scans bring it to a local facility and then out for delivery.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking the tracking history for new scans.
  • If a duties or taxes notice appears, follow the payment instructions from UPS, since charges may be due at delivery or beforehand.
  • If there is no new scan for longer than usual, contact UPS first, then the seller.
  • Have your tracking number and order details ready when you contact them.
