Aramex needs more paperwork or information before it can send the parcel on its way. The parcel is still at or near the starting point of its journey, with the sender's side or the Aramex origin office. It has not yet moved on to the destination country. Usually the missing item is a document connected to export or customs clearance, such as an invoice, an ID or a form.
This is an exception, not a routine step. The parcel is on hold until the missing information arrives, so it will wait longer than usual. It is not necessarily lost or in serious trouble. Most of the time the next update shows the shipment moving forward, but it can also be sent back to the shipper.
Most often, in about two fifths of cases, the next update says the shipment has been received at the Aramex origin office and will continue to the destination country. Other common follow-ups are "being processed and on its way to the next destination" and "shipment collected from the shipper". In a small share of cases, the shipment is returned to the shipper.
