UPS

The receiver is no longer in business

UPS tracking parcel

What this status means

UPS tried to deliver the parcel to a business address, and the driver reported that the business at that address no longer operates there. The parcel is still with UPS, usually on a delivery vehicle or at a local facility. It has not been handed over to anyone. This is different from "business closed" for the day, which only means nobody was there to receive it.

Is my package delayed?

This is an exception, not a routine step. The message usually means the delivery cannot go ahead as addressed. A delay is likely until the address is clarified or corrected. In some cases the address is corrected and delivery continues, but nothing is guaranteed.

What happens next

  • UPS may correct the address and send the parcel on, which is the most common follow-up message seen after this one.
  • The same message may be repeated while UPS reviews the shipment.
  • If the address cannot be fixed, the parcel may be returned to the sender.

What you can do

  • Check that the delivery address and business name are correct and that you can still receive parcels there.
  • Keep watching the tracking history for an "address was corrected" update.
  • If nothing changes, or the address is wrong, contact the seller first, since they can confirm the address on the order, then UPS.
  • Have your tracking number, order details and the correct address ready.
