The UPS driver came to the delivery address on the day the parcel was out for delivery, but the address was treated as a business and it was closed. Nobody could accept the parcel, so the driver took it back. The parcel is not lost. It is back with UPS, usually at the local facility.
This is an exception, but a common and minor one. It means one delivery day was missed. The message says a second attempt will be made the next business day, so the delivery date moves back by at least that much. It does not by itself point to damage or loss.
Most often, in about two thirds of cases, the next update is "Processing at UPS Facility" (or a similar "On the Way" version). This means the parcel is being scanned and sorted again before it goes back on a vehicle. In fewer cases it goes straight to "Out For Delivery Today". Another failed attempt is possible if the address is still closed.
