PostNL has prepared your parcel to be passed on to the carrier that will deliver it in your area, known as the last mile carrier. The parcel is still at an early stage of its journey, usually at a PostNL facility or with a partner handling the hand-over. It has not yet been delivered locally, and this line does not mean it has reached your country.
No. This message by itself is normal and is not an exception. It is a routine step. The same message can appear more than once, and the steps around it may look out of order. That is common with this courier and is not a sign of a problem.
Most often the next update is "The item is ready for shipment", in about half of cases. Other common follow-ups are that the item has been manifested and is ready to transport, or that it is handed over in bulk to the next carrier. After that, the parcel should be accepted and move on towards the delivery carrier. Further updates may be slow to appear, because the handover often happens outside PostNL's own system.
