Customs Restricted:IPR problem

Aliexpress Standard Shipping tracking parcel

What this status means

Customs has stopped the parcel because of an "IPR problem". IPR means intellectual property rights: the item, its branding or its packaging may be suspected of copying a protected trademark, design or patent. This is a customs restriction, not a routine scan. The parcel is still in or near the country it was sent from, at an Aliexpress Standard Shipping transport hub or customs point.

Is my package delayed?

This is an exception, not a normal step. The message usually means the parcel will not continue as planned. After it, the most common next step is a return to the domestic location, in almost half of cases (48%). Sometimes tracking moves on to departure from the country (26%) or a new export customs step (22%), so the outcome is not certain.

What happens next

  • Most often, the parcel is sent back to the seller's location.
  • In some cases, it is released and continues to export.
  • Tracking may pause for longer than between earlier steps while customs decides.

What you can do

  • Wait and keep checking tracking for a new update.
  • If the status does not change for longer than usual, or shows a return, open the order on the marketplace and ask the seller what happened.
  • If the parcel is returned, request a refund through the order page. Have your tracking number, order number and a screenshot of this message ready.
  • If the seller does not answer, open a dispute with the marketplace.
