UPS

A Government Agency has requested proof of package value. Awaiting information from the customer

UPS tracking parcel

What this status means

The parcel is going through customs or another government clearance check, and the agency wants proof of what the contents are worth. UPS cannot release it until it receives that proof. The parcel is usually held at a customs or clearance facility, and it is waiting on the recipient, not on UPS.

Is my package delayed?

This is an exception, not a routine scan. Delivery is on hold until the agency has the information it asked for, so the parcel will be held longer than usual if nothing is sent. It does not mean the parcel is lost or will be returned.

What happens next

Once the requested proof is supplied and accepted, the agency can release the parcel and UPS will continue it toward delivery. Any duties or taxes that apply may be calculated at that point. If the proof is missing or not accepted, the parcel may stay on hold.

What you can do

  • Check your email, mail and UPS notifications for a request for documents.
  • Get proof of value ready, such as the invoice or receipt from the seller, or proof of payment.
  • Send it to UPS as instructed. If you are unsure how, contact UPS with your tracking number.
  • If you did not buy the item yourself, ask the seller for the invoice, and keep your order details at hand.
