UPS does not deliver to every address every day. Your address is in a remote area that UPS serves only on certain days, so the driver could not bring the parcel on the day it was planned. The parcel is still in UPS's network, and the delivery has been moved to a later date.
This is an exception, but usually not a serious one. The parcel will arrive later than a normal route would allow, because it has to wait for the next delivery run to your area. The message often repeats, sometimes with "On the Way" in front, and that is common. In a small share of cases the follow-up says the parcel is undeliverable and is being disposed of, which is a real problem.
