UPS found a problem with how this package was classified, packed, labelled or documented as containing hazardous materials, such as batteries, aerosols, perfumes or liquids. The parcel has been taken out of the normal flow and is being held at a UPS facility. UPS then contacts the sender, not the recipient, and in this case the package has been sent back using the return label.
This is an exception, not a routine scan. The package will usually not continue to you as planned. Once it is marked as returned to the sender, delivery to your address is generally no longer going ahead, so expect the order to be cancelled, refunded or re-sent.
The package travels back to the sender and is handled as a return shipment. The tracking history may show further return scans along the way, and the final step is delivery back to the sender. Whether the item is shipped again is up to the sender, who may need to repack or relabel it, use a different service, or drop the item altogether.
