UPS could not read the address label on the parcel, so it cannot be routed to the right place as it is. The parcel is in UPS's network, usually at a sorting facility. UPS staff are trying to work out the correct address and update the label. A similar notice appears when a label has come off the package.
This message is an exception, not a routine step. UPS itself says it may delay delivery. How long depends on whether the address can be recovered from the package or its records. If it is fixed quickly, the delay may be small. If not, it will take longer than usual.
If UPS finds the correct address, the parcel goes back into normal sorting and the tracking history should move on to the usual transit and delivery steps. If the address cannot be confirmed, UPS may contact the sender for details. In the worst case the parcel is returned to the sender.
